Obituary

Rose Gayle Armstrong, 85, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at home with her daughter Deanna by her side.  She was born to Frank N. Mullican and Alva Beatrice Holiman in Corsicana, TX on March 12, 1936.  Rose Gayle moved to Southern California at the age of 4, where she went to elementary school.  She then moved to Bakersfield, CA, where she attended East Bakersfield High School.  Rose Gayle then moved back to Southern California to attend beauty school.  She married Dan Reid in 1953.  After her divorce, she married Earl Mann.  Rose Gayle lived in several cities throughout California before moving to Tennessee in 1994.  She had a few jobs over the years:  Kirkhill Rubber Co. in Brea, CA for twelve years, and Manville Ink in Bakersfield, CA, where she retired after twelve years.  Rose Gayle eventually married Gene Armstrong in 1999, before making a final move to Fort Oglethorpe, GA in 2014.  She was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church and was a loving mother to her three children, considering them her greatest accomplishment.  She loved children, especially babies and dogs, and considered herself an advocate for the unborn.  Rose Gayle was incredibly proud of her family and delighted in following the lives of her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Mann and Gene Armstrong; parents, Frank and Alva Mullican; sisters, Doris and Patricia; brothers, Frank and Warner, and grandson, Kyle Reid.

Rose Gayle is survived by her children, Debbie (Richard) West, Dan (Stacie) Reid, Jr., and Deanna (Danny) Gentry; sister, Joan (Angelo) Morabito; thirteen grandchildren, Richard, April, Jeremy, Kimberly, Kyle, Holly, Dena, CaSandra, Danielle, Crystal, Summer, Steven and Sierra; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces, great-nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 10 – 12:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home, Hwy 58 Chapel.  A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Dr. David Kemp officiating.

Rose Gayle will be laid to rest in Chattanooga National Cemetery with her husband, Gene.
