Ruby Lee Waters, 81, of Harrison, peacefully left this earth to meet her Savior on Monday, January 1, 2024.  She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday School for many years.  She was a 1960 graduate of Tyner High School.  Ruby was employed by Vitafoam for twenty-nine years and later with Hamilton County Department of Education as a Teacher's Assistant for children with special needs.  She enjoyed many activities from sewing to gardening to traveling and spending time with her family and friends.  However, sitting beside a softball field may have been her best-loved as she cheered on her favorite player and coach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Maggie Waters; brothers, Jim Waters and Marvin Waters, and her sister, Diane Gates.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Connie Waters; brother, Freddie Waters (Linda); sister, Gladys Waters; special great-nieces, Miranda and Zoe; great-nephew, Tucker, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 8740 Harrison Bay Rd, Harrison, TN 37341.  There will also be a visitation on Sunday, January 6, 2024 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at the church.  A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Dekle officiating.

Ruby will be laid to rest in Harrison Cemetery.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Anz and the staff of Tennessee Oncology for their care and services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to New Bethel Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
