Samuel Emerson Day was born on Saturday, September 12, 2026, and was lovingly welcomed into the arms of Jesus that same day.
Although we never had the chance to hear his cry or watch him take his first breath, Samuel was deeply loved from the very beginning. His life was precious, his name was chosen with love, and his presence has forever changed the hearts of those who longed to know him.
Samuel was named in honor of his family—Arthur Samuel after his maternal grandfather, and Elwood Emerson after his paternal great-grandfather. His name carries the love and legacy of the generations who came before him.
We grieve the life we had dreamed of sharing with our baby boy: the moments we will never get to experience, the memories we will never get to make, and the years we so desperately wished we could have had with him. Yet even though his earthly life was so very brief, Samuel will always be our beloved son, brother, grandson, great-grandson, and family.
We find comfort in knowing that Samuel is now resting safely in the arms of Jesus. We may not have gotten to hold him in life, but we were blessed to hold him in love—and we will carry that love for him forever.
Until we meet again, precious Samuel. You were loved before we ever saw your face, you are loved still, and you will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Day Sr. and great-grandfather, Emerson Merrit.
Samuel is survived by his parents, Ronnie Jr. and Ashley Day; siblings, Nevaeh Day, Courtney Voy (KC) and Mason Day (Sydney Parker); maternal grandparents, Samuel and Norma Malone; paternal grandmother, Joyce Teets; niece, Tatum Voy; aunt, Amber Thurman (Cody); uncle, Bryan Malone (Starla); cousins, Caiden, Carter and Christopher.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 14, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Dotson officiating.
Samuel will be laid to rest in Old McDonald Cemetery in Ooltewah.
