Sara Lea Alvarez, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018. She is now pain free and joined with her loving husband Raymond. Sara retired from Central High School, where she worked in the cafeteria and where she was lovingly known as "Granny". She was an amazing person, very loving and caring with a big heart. She loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond and sister, Frances Long.
Sara is survived by her son, Tony (Donna) Alvarez; daughter, Rosan (Kent) Mears; brother, Ronald Shoemake; grandchildren, Ozzy Alvarez and Eddie (Jena) Brown; great-grandchildren, Nadia, Simone, Presleigh and Sierra.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. The funeral will be private.
