Stephen Kelly Armstrong passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the age of 54.  He was born on June 12, 1969 to the late Brenda Allison Murphy of Chattanooga, TN and Larry Ellis Armstrong of Ooltewah, TN.  Stephen graduated from Central High School in 1987 and began his career in retail shortly thereafter.  He had God-given musical talent, and he loved the performing arts, but his true passion in life was visual artistry.  He spent many years with the Chattanooga Boys Choir, he performed with the Chattanooga Opera, and had starring roles at the Backstage Dinner Theatre.  Stephen spent his entire adult life in the retail management industry.   Loveman's, Proffitt's, Belk, Coldwater Creek, and Fischer Evans are just a few of the places where his career led him.  Whether it be his current job role or an event outside of work, any opportunity that allowed him to be creative is what he loved and cherished most.  Stephen's kind spirit, his contagious laugh, his warm smile, and his witty sense of humor are just a few of his attributes that made you instantly love him, make the loss of him so difficult, and make you thankful to have known him.

He will be dearly missed by his family and his friends, but will be forever remembered for his outgoing, friendly demeanor, his wonderful singing voice, and his natural creative, artistic abilities.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Allison Murphy; his brother, Terry Christopher Armstrong, and his uncle, Gary Mitchell Allison.

Stephen is survived by his father and step-mother, Larry and Brenda Armstrong; his siblings, Brandon (Ryan) Armstrong, Katie (Ryan) Kennedy, Tyler (Kristina) Armstrong, Erich Haws, and Foster Akins; his uncle, Billy Ray Allison, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church in Harrison, TN.

A celebration of Stephen's life will follow at 3 p.m. with Brother Ronnie Dotson officiating.
