Vernon Willis Haviland, 84, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2019. He was born on April 24, 1934 to Elmer and Helen Haviland in Denver, Colorado and was a member of San Diego First Church of the Nazarene.

He married Patty in 1956, and was an Engineer with General Atomic. In 1998, Vern and Patty moved from San Diego, California, to Harrison, Tennessee, to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Vern was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Patty; brothers, Leon, Harold and Paul.

Survivors include his daughters, LaVonne (Robert) Dasher and Cheryl (Tom) Hutto; brothers Don and Clarence Haviland; grandchildren, Sara (Jason) Snyder, Adam (Lindsay) Simmons, Nathan Simmons, Andrew Richards, Robert Richards and Thomas Hutto lV; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
